The Constitution contains a detailed outline of LISSA's mandate as a student association. It is composed of seven articles which deal with naming, objective, membership, executive, committees, amendments, powers regarding finances, and referenda.

The Bylaws outline the following: dues rights and privileges of LISSA membership at large, responsibilities of the executive, rules of conduct for meetings, representation on the executive, guidelines for executive and yearly meetings, and procedures for elections.

We craft this living acknowledgement in a way that is tied to our role as information
professionals, with the intent to foster collective critical consciousness, improve our relational accountability, and finally to engage with some uneasy elements related to our position in colonial structures and institutions.
